Built for sheep

We used our structural engineering expertise to deliver the innovative Flower Bowl entertainment venue in Barton, near Preston in Lancashire.

The iconic structure next to Barton Grange, everyone’s favourite garden centre, is known for its green, undulating roof. We worked with Barton Grange and architects Worthington Ashworth Jackson Walker (WAJW) to develop the right concept, design the best solution, and build the steel-framed shell and roof structure. It needed to support the weight of a green roof – and on top of that, the weight of grazing sheep!

We can’t wait to bring our friends, colleagues and families to the Flower Bowl. It houses a four-sheet curling rink, luxury ten pin bowling, premium multi-screen cinema, crazy golf courses, state-of-the-art golf simulator and two restaurants.

The building, complete with bespoke rock cladding, stands out as an example of how we deliver high-quality design and build projects tailored to meet the client brief and solve technical problems.

Have you spotted any sheep making themselves at home up there?
