The Truman team has started construction of the 135-bedroom NIU hotel, next to the Irish World Heritage Centre in Manchester.

The centre is a major base for the Irish community offering a diverse programme of cultural activities, alongside conference and events facilities.

The hotel construction will consist of a ground floor steel transfer deck, housing accessible bedrooms, reception area and conviviality suite. Above this, three floors of light-gauge steel superstructure will house all additional bedrooms. The exterior of the building will be a mix of blockwork and render, creating a modern look.

Further works include a new frontage to Queens Road, extensive landscaping and car parking for 110 vehicles.

The hotel is expected to open at the end of 2019.
