NIU Loom Hotel, Manchester

Manchester does it first again

Client: NIU Loom Hotel Value: £6.8m Duration: 40 weeks

Stylish 135-bedroom NIu hotel next to north Manchester’s Irish World Heritage Centre.

The Niu has 25 “authentic, cosmopolitan and inviting” hotels all over the world, each distinctive and embedded in the character of their city. We were proud to bring their first to the UK.

The Niu Loom hotel has 135 stylish bedrooms, with an interior style that takes its inspiration from Manchester’s weaving heritage and brought to life by street artist Björn Holzweg.

Designed for “football fans, culture goers and clubbers” the hotel has a relaxed feel and a brilliant location next to the Irish World Heritage Centre in Manchester’s Cheetham Hill district.

We used our expertise and experience to specify a light-gauge steel superstructure and an exterior of blockwork and render.

A ground floor steel transfer deck houses accessible bedrooms, conference facilities, welcoming reception area and conviviality suite. Above this, three floors of light-gauge steel superstructure house all additional bedrooms.

The exterior of the building is a mix of blockwork and render, creating a modern look.

With our pragmatic approach to project management, we delivered a high-quality build that exceeded our client’s expectations and added to the leisure offer for the local community.

The hotel opened at the end of 2019.

Completed in July 2019.
