At Manchester Airport, the design and build process combined traditional on-site construction of the steel-framed structure with an element of modular construction.

Bathroom pods for each hotel bedroom were pre-fabricated off-site, then inserted into the steel frame.

Using this modular approach emphasises the importance of quality early-stage design work, as the finer details of module design – right down to the bathroom finishes – must be agreed before construction of the pods start, and before significant construction begins on site. Our expertise in guiding our clients through the whole process, from concept to completion, helped to keep this project and all its various pieces, on track.
