NIU Hotel tops out

The construction of a new hotel next to The Irish World Heritage Centre in Manchester has reached a major milestone. The construction of the light-gauge steel-frame has topped out, revealing the true scale of the building for the first time.

The 135-bedroom will be a welcome addition to the centre which is a major base for the Irish community offering a diverse programme of cultural activities, alongside conference and events facilities.

The construction consists of a ground floor steel transfer deck, housing accessible bedrooms, reception area and conviviality suite. Above this, three floors of light-gauge steel superstructure house all additional bedrooms. The exterior of the building will be a mix of blockwork and render, creating a modern look.

Further works include a new frontage to Queens Road, extensive landscaping and car parking for 110 vehicles.

The hotel is expected to open at the end of 2019.
